Look: Manila Zoo to Reopen on Dec. 30 After Major Renovation
The newly renovated Manila Zoo is slated to open on Dec. 30 following a P1.7-billion rehabilitation project.
In unveiling the attraction to the press on Dec. 22, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said he wants the construction workers who helped revamp the zoo, as well as their families, to be the special guests during the soft opening next week.
The modernized Manila Zoo, also called Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, spans nearly five hectares and features “world-class animal enclosures” that are surrounded by transparent glass, said Moreno.
The attraction also has an Animal Museum, a Botanical Garden, and a Butterfly Garden, including viewing lofts. The animals are scheduled to be transported to their enclosures on Dec. 27.
Visitors can also enjoy other revamped amenities such as spacious restrooms, food stalls, drinking fountains, and a brand- new parking space.
This is Manila Zoo’s first major overhaul since it opened in July 1959. About 99.9% of the renovation works have been finished, according to Moreno.
