MIAA: 420 Passengers, Crew Safe as Plane Veers Off NAIA Taxiway

None of the 420 passengers and crew of Saudia Airlines flight SV862 were hurt when six of the aircraft's landing gears veered off the pavement after landing, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Monday in a statement.

As per the MIAA, its Fire and Rescue Division responded to the flight's emergency call after it landed at Runway 06-24 around 1:47 PM.

"[Its] six right landing gears veered off the pavement at the end portion of Taxiway Charlie onto the grassy portion while en route to its parking bay in NAIA Terminal 1 causing the wheels to get stuck in the process," the MIAA said.

No flights in the NAIA Terminals were affected by the incident and flights continued on schedule.

MIAA General Manager Eddie Monreal had said that the recovery operations for the Saudia Airlines aircraft were done in accordance with international standards on aircraft recovery.
