Sen. Hontiveros Urges Admin to Sign Anti-Online Sexual Abuse Law

Senator Risa Hontiveros called for the immediate signing of the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse & Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Law after screencaps of disturbing videos surfaced online on Thursday, July 14. In a public tweet, the opposition leader shared photos showing strong messages of child grooming, sexual abuse, and pedophilia from the YouTube channel “Usapang Diskarte.”

On Facebook, Hontiveros said the people behind the infamous account should be held accountable. “I urge the Palace to sign the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse & Exploitation of Children Law. I call on the people to report accounts that exploit children. I also urge the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group and the NBI to investigate the people behind these pages,” Hontiveros said.

The OSAEC bill, which was filed in the 18th Congress, is aimed at strengthening the protection of children and minors against sexual abuse and exploitation. Hontiveros, one of the principal authors of the bill, said “our children need the full power and protection of this measure.”
