The Virgin Labfest to Welcome Live Audience Again
The Virgin Labfest (VLF) will be back on stage to a live audience for the first time since the pandemic began.
In a teaser posted on Facebook on April 8, the Cultural Center of the Philippines announced that the theater festival will return to Tanghalang Huseng Batute live from June 15-26. This is the festival’s first live show following two virtual runs amid the pandemic. Marco Viaña and Tess Jamias will head this year’s VLF, marking the first time that the role will be shared by two people and that a woman will take the helm as a festival director.
Founded in 2005, the VLF is an annual laboratory festival of “untried, untested, and unstaged works” that “dare define and defy the times.”
The VLF’s 17th edition will showcase 12 new plays from emerging and established Filipino playwrights.
