It’s a trend that’s looking to catch up with the cronut. From the United States (US) to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the cookie croissant – also known as the “crookie” – has taken the Internet by storm.

The birthchild of French baker, Stephane Louvard, the crookie first came to be in 2022, but it was only recently that TikTok and Instagram fuelled our online love affair with the delightful pastry. Fortunately, our talented Filipino bakers have crafted their own take on the crookie and we’re glad to say you can get them at these seven bakeshops around the Metro!

Twenty Four Bakeshop

Located in Estancia Mall, Twenty Four Bakeshop is among the handful of local bakeries offering the viral cookie croissant dessert. Monikered Le Crookie, Twenty Four Bakeshop describes their take as a cross between a pain au chocolat and an ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie. Baked in limited quantities per day, customers better hurry if they want to try these freshly baked goodies!

Melc Patisserie

Is it any surprise that even high-end patisseries – such as Melc Patisserie in Ayala Triangle – are hopping onto the crookie trend? Of course, they have an elevated version of the Internet sensation. Their sophisticated crookie features a moist hazelnut cookie and hazelnut chocolate wrapped in flaky, laminated croissant dough. Topped with caramelized hazelnuts, it’s a melt-in-your-mouth treat that’s sure to impress.

Butterboy Bakehouse

This limited-edition release is a must-not-miss. First introduced at a pop-up in Bahay Nakpil, Butterboy’s P’ookie is their twist on the Internet darling. Twice-baked pain au chocolat is married to chocolate chunk cookie dough to create this cheeky sensation that’s sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Gotbaked

Those in the North can rejoice: GotBaked in Katipunan has got your back. Their delightful crookie is best paired with coffee, which is also available on their menu. To add a layer of decadence, GotBaked has thoughtfully added chocolate filling between their cookie and croissant layers, making the perfect treat for sweet tooths around the Metro.

Brookies Marikina

This home bakery is leveling up their menu with the cookie croissant. Mouth-watering and tempting, its center is filled with gooey cookie dough and melted chocolate chips. We wouldn’t be surprised if Brookies Marikina finds themselves a new namesake bestseller with this limited edition drop.

Aperitif

Aperitif has some of the best croissants in the metro. Buttery and delightful, their classic pastry has found a new companion with the cookie croissant. Made with chocoholics in mind, this version of the crookie finds itself slathered with chocolate – much to the delight of their consumers. Treat yourself to pure indulgence with this new menu addition (that Aperitif has promised is here to stay!).

Gourmandise by Sunshine

Due to popular demand, this home-based patisserie is now offering the popular cookie croissant. Dusted with powdered sugar and filled with barely-baked cookie dough, each bite is further complemented by a flaky croissant crust. Fair to say, it’s damn delicious.
