Where to Get K-Drama-Inspired Egg Drop Sandwiches in Manila

You know someone is influential enough if they can give birth to a new concept and make it trend, or if they can resurrect a passé idea from the dead and rekindle buzz out of it. For something as massively popular as the South Korean pop culture, doing both is effortless. One testament to this is the renewed craze over egg drop sandwiches, which were popularized by K-Drama “Hospital Playlist.”
We know egg sandwiches aren’t new. These no-frills goodies have been a pantry staple, thanks to their easy-to-find ingredients: crispy bacon strips or ham, melted cheese, toasted brioche, and of course, fluffy scrambled or sunny side up eggs.
If like us, you’re craving for these heaven-sent goodies but are too lazy to make one, check out our list of stores that offer egg drop sandwiches in Manila.
Egg Drop MNL
Owned by a 24-year-old banker and her partner, Egg Drop MNL is one of the first stores to hop on the trend. There are nine versions to choose from, including the classic Breakfast Spam and Egg (P115) and Garlic Bacon Cheese (P100), and premium items such as The Hungover Sandwich (P150), which consists of brioche bread, gourmet ham, slices of bacon, cheddar cheese, sunny side up eggs, and sriracha.
Egg Drop Manila delivers via Grab, Lalamove, Mr. Speedy, and other third-party couriers. To order, you have to fill out its form and send it to their Viber (+63961902533). Make sure to order in advance as their slots get filled up fast!
Smash Buns
If you want a healthier version of egg drop sandwich, check out Smash Buns’ Avocado Ham Cheese (P120). But if counting calories isn’t your thing, go straight to Double Spam Cheese (P120) or Mr. Bacon Cheese (P120). One sandwich offers generous bites enough to make up for a decent meal. It is best paired with an iced vanilla or caramel coffee that you can order to-go. Smash Buns also offers the burger version of egg drop sandwich, with the most affordable item at P99.
You can find Smash Buns on Food Panda or place your order via this link.
Tamago Drop
Another popular store specializing in egg drop sandwiches in Manila is Tamago drop, a home-based business operating from its humble abode along P. Guevarra Street in Sampaloc. Its sandwich incorporates all the four elements that make an egg drop: cured bacon, creamy egg, cheese, bread—all drizzled with Tamago’s signature sauce.
The store encourages patrons to make reservations as the preparation time for every four sandwiches may take an hour. All orders are for pick-up only via Grab, Mr. Speedy, and other couriers.
Sunny Side Manila
Taking egg drop sandwiches in Manila to the next level, this San Juan-based store is set to release the premium version of the famed Korean goodie sometime in September 2021. Aside from the five classic flavors (ham, bacon, garlic-bacon, spam, and beef bulgogi), you can expect quintessential bites featuring shrimps and truffle steak!
Sunny Side Manila is available for delivery via Lalamove, Grab, and Mr. Speedy.
