“Virgin Labfest XXI: Hubo’t Hubad” takes place June 3–28, 2026, at Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Black Box Theater), marking the 21st edition of the country’s festival of “untried, untested, and unstaged” one-act plays.
Guided by the theme “Hubo’t Hubad,” this year’s festival explores vulnerability, adulthood, and the complexities of the human experience through a lineup of 12 new “virgin” plays by both emerging and returning playwrights. These works are divided into curated sets, presenting a range of storytelling styles—from emotionally driven drama to absurdist and experimental narratives.
The festival continues to serve as a platform for new voices in Philippine theater, supporting the development of playwrights, directors, actors, and designers. In addition to the main productions, the program includes staged readings, theater talks, a writing fellowship showcase, and the Playwrights’ Fair, offering audiences a broader look into the creative process behind theatrical work.
With performances scheduled at 2:00 PM (matinee) and 8:00 PM (evening), the festival creates a layered theatrical experience that combines performance with discourse and development.
