Tanghalang Ateneo closes its 46th season with "Ningning sa Silangan," a stirring Filipino adaptation of Jo Clifford’s "Light in the Village," translated by Dr. Jerry Respeto and directed by Charles Yee. This powerful theatrical work unearths a timeless battle between tradition and progress, set against the backdrop of a small village on the brink of transformation.
Told through the perspectives of five narrators, the play follows two brothers with opposing visions: one clings to their landlord father’s legacy, while the other dreams of industrializing their home. As power shifts and ideologies clash, Inang Kalikasan (Mother Nature) fights to tell a different story—one of resilience and hope amid exploitation and greed.
Running from March 27-29, April 3-6, and April 10-13 at the Rizal Mini Theater, Ateneo de Manila University, this production is the undergraduate acting thesis of John Patrick Noynay, Louis Paguia, and Lyle Viray, mentored by Missy Maramara, MFA, PhD.
Secure your tickets now and witness a compelling exploration of power, survival, and rebirth.
