Sayaw ng mga Ilaw

Witness a heartfelt story of resilience, love, and healing in "Sayaw ng mga Ilaw," running from Sept. 18 to Oct. 11, 2026, at the CCP Black Box Theater in Pasay City. Adapted for the stage by Juan Ekis from the acclaimed children’s story by Cheeno Marlo Sayuno, this production brings to life a poignant narrative that has touched readers across generations, earning recognition from the International Board on Books for Young People.

At the heart of the story is Laya, a young girl who dreams of learning the traditional Pandanggo dance with her older sister. When her father, Tatay Ondeng, a construction worker, fails to return home, the family is confronted by uncertainty, grief, and the challenge of finding hope amid hardship. As the journey unfolds, Laya discovers that light can be found not only through dance, but also through the enduring strength of family and community.

Directed by Jonathan Tadioan, with music by Krina Cayabyab, the production stars Wincess Jem Yana and Annika Co as Laya, alongside Noel Rayos and Shiela Valderrama. Performances are scheduled at 3 PM and 8 PM, offering audiences a moving theatrical experience centered on compassion, loss, and healing.
