The National Museum of the Philippines and SM Mall of Asia are spotlighting Filipino artworks in the digital age through an augmented reality (AR) exhibit titled “ARt in MOA.”

The exhibit will showcase the works of distinguished Filipino artists like Juan Luna, Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, Guillermo Tolentino, Fernando Amorsolo, and Ang Kiukok, among others, in hopes of bringing art and heritage closer to Filipinos.

The exhibit features a pop-up installation at the Main Mall, with QR codes located in different areas of the MOA Complex, including the MOA Square and S Maison. Mallgoers can view an image of each artwork by scanning the QR codes on their phones.

Some of the artworks that can be found in the AR exhibit are Juan Luna’s “Spolarium,” Ang Kuikok’s “Ink Fish,” Carlos V. Francisco’s “The Presentation of Santo Niño in Cebu,” and Norma Belleza’s “Pottery Makers.”

“We’re truly excited to be able to become a venue to enrich the lives of our customers on a day-to-day basis. We’re excited that the public will be able to experience these creations by the masters in our mall... Hopefully, we can make the public feel the importance and beauty of Philippine art,” said Jorell Legaspi, deputy director-general for museums at the National Museum of the Philippines, in the Memorandum of Agreement signing on June 9.

Catch these renowned artworks from June to August this year at the SM Mall of Asia!
