MMFF Announces First Four Official Entries of 2023 Festival

The Metro Manila Film Festival announced the first four official entries of the fest's 49th edition this year.

Twenty-six scripts from 32 production companies were submitted to the MMFF, whose Selection Committee, headed by producer and film industry stalwart Jesse Ejercito, chose the top four scripts based on artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), Filipino cultural sensibility (10%), and global appeal (10%). Four more films will be selected to complete the fest's lineup.

Quantum Films' horror thriller "K(Ampon)," which will be directed by King Palisoc with a screenplay by Dodo Dayao, sees Beauty Gonzales and Derek Ramsay as its leads.

"Penduko" is a fantasy action movie directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, who is also its scriptwriter. Produced under Sari Sari Network, "Penduko" will star Matteo Guidicelli and Cristine Reyes.

The fourth film is "Rewind" under ABS-CB Film Productions, Incorporation. A romance drama, the movie will be directed by Mae Cruz-Alivar with a screenplay by Enrico Santos. Its lead stars are real-life husband-and-wife Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
