This Self-shoot, Concept Studio Makes Your K-Photoshoot Dreams Come True

Despite the popularity of smartphones (and their crazy specs nowadays), nothing beats the quality and professional look that comes with taking your photos inside a studio. While renting one by the hour and hiring a photographer were once reserved for special occasions because of their price, that’s not the case anymore. Whether you’re celebrating your birthday, anniversary, or even a just because, you can now have those quality photos taken professionally at a budget-friendly price inside a self-shoot studio.
The Beat Manila had the chance to try Studio Seoul, and we must say that it was quite an experience! Check out below how our visit to the studio went.
Who is Studio Seoul and what do they offer?
Studio Seoul is the first self-photo and concept studio experience in the country. What makes them unique from other self-shoot studios is they offer the best of both worlds. After your self-shoot session, you can also have your photos taken by a professional photographer at their Korean-style concept studio.
But that’s not all. Depending on the occasion, they offer special concept shoots as an add-on. This February, for example, they have a new concept called “Black Valentine,” which is a unique approach to the season of love where it’s often associated with the color red.
What is the experience at Studio Seoul like?
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ms. Wenie, the co-owner and communications and creative manager of Studio Seoul, along with the rest of the team. She gave us a quick intro of what to expect during the experience before we proceeded to our first step: the self-shoot studio.

The self-shoot studio is ideal for two people, but wide enough for a maximum of six (with a fee of P250 per additional person). Children under two and one pet are free of charge.
There are bags, hats, balloons, necklaces, and artificial flowers you can use as props. There’s also a clothes rack with hangers you could use to hang extra clothes you brought for the shoot. The color of the backdrop will depend on your package, but the ones available right now are white, pink, beige, and blue.

If you want to take behind-the-scenes videos, there’s a mount where you can place your smartphone. It’s perfect for Reels and TikTok posts!

You’re free to do anything you want within the time limit of your selected package without being disturbed. There’s a timer on the table, so you’ll know exactly how much time you have left. If you need assistance like changing the backdrop, all you need is to ring the bell. They’ll stop the timer for a while as they assist you, then you can continue until the time is up.

You can shoot while standing up or sitting down on the white blocks and seats provided. Unless you’re well-versed with using a camera, it’s best that you let the setup be and simply adjust the zoom when you feel necessary.
The clicker allows you to take instant shots or with a two-second timer if you need a bit more time to prepare. For us, we prefer the two-second timer because there are times when we’re still looking at the screen instead of the camera!
Tip: Take as many photos as you want to maximize your time since you’ll be choosing your best shots anyway! If you think there were a lot of good shots, you can pay extra (P400) for all the soft copies.

Next step, concept studio photoshoots! This two- to five-minute shoot is a quick way to pass time while you wait for your photos to be enhanced and printed.

And we're not done yet! If you're still undecided on what to do with your partner this February, Studio Seoul’s “Black Valentine” is a good date idea. This creative shoot concept is an add-on (P800) you can include in any package. It covers a three-minute shoot plus 10 enhanced photos, which will be sent to you as soft copies via e-mail.

The team will give you a few props to use, such as roses and a glass of wine (which you can drink by the way), if needed. If you’re clueless on what poses to do, don’t worry! Their professional photographers can give you a few directions.

Okay, I’m interested. Where do I book a slot, and are walk-ins welcome?
To give clients the best experience, Studio Seoul doesn’t accept walk-ins. You must book your slot online and choose from the available dates and time. All the necessary information you need will be there, from package rates to cancellation policy, so it’s best to read them carefully before confirming your booking.
Grab is expensive! How do we get there by commute?
Studio Seoul is located on the second floor of Martizano Building at 45 A. Bonifacio Avenue, Marikina.

To get there by commute (from EDSA), you simply have to make your way to Araneta Center-Cubao MRT Station then transfer to LRT-2 Cubao Station going to Santolan Station. Get off at Katipunan Station and head to the south exit.
From there, ride a jeepney going to Marikina with signs Calumpang, SSS, or Parang. Tell the driver you’ll get off before Riverbanks. You only need to pay the minimum fare because it’s just a five-minute ride away. If you can spot an FX going to SSS Village from Cubao along Aurora Avenue, that will also do.
