Panda-stic News! Jia Jia and Kai Kai to Stay in Singapore Until 2027

Good news for those who can’t resist the cuteness of Singapore’s loveable bears! Jia Jia and Kai Kai, the giant panda pair at River Wonders in Mandai Wildlife Reserve, will stay for five more years until 2027.

“Kai Kai and Jia Jia, who turn 15 and 14 years respectively this month, joined us here at Mandai Wildlife Reserve 10 years ago as part of a joint collaboration to promote Giant Panda conservation. Together with the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA), we signed an Extension Agreement on Cooperation in Panda Conservation and Research,” Mandai Wildlife Reserve said in a Facebook post.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling, China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration Vice-administrator Li Chunliang, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Sun Haiyan, and other officials were present in a ceremony held on Sept. 2 to extend the 10-year loan of the giant pandas.

On the same day, Mandai Wildlife Reserve went live on Facebook to give “sweet surprises” to the giant panda pair

Jia Jia was born on Sept. 3, while Kai Kai was born on Sept. 14. Those who want to join their #PandasticParty celebration can visit River Wonders’ Giant Panda Forest this weekend.
