PWD Commuters' Satisfaction Levels Improved in 2022 Public Transport Survey

The Public Transport Council released the results of its annual survey on mass transit for 2022 on Feb. 13. The survey evaluated commuters’ satisfaction levels, including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and their caregivers.

A self-administered online poll was used to collect data for the Public Transport Survey for PWDs, which comprised 537 respondents. Of this number, 309 are PWDs and 228 are caregivers. The survey was conducted on Sept. 26-Oct. 28, 2022.

The results showed that the mean satisfaction score is 7.6 out of 10, which is higher than 7.2 in 2021.

Respondents were asked to rate public transportation (including buses and trains) attributes on a scale of one to 10, with one meaning “very dissatisfied/unimportant” and 10 indicating “very satisfied/important.” The service attributes include the Waiting Time, Reliability, Service Information, Bus Interchange/Bus Stop/Train Station Accessibility, Comfort, Travel Time, Customer Service, and Safety and Security.

Safety and Security among bus commuters were ranked as the most important attributes, earning the highest satisfaction score of 7.8. Waiting Time showed a significant improvement, with a score of 7.4 in 2022 versus 6.5 in 2021.

The most satisfying attribute for train passengers is the Service Information, while Reliability is regarded as the most important attribute, with scores of 7.7 and 7.6, respectively.

The transport survey for 2022 showed an overall optimistic result, and the council said that they “will continue to foster a gracious and caring commuter culture through efforts under Caring SG Commuters Committee to ensure our public transport system remains inclusive to all.”
