SFA Recalls Kinder Surprise Chocolates From Belgium Due to Salmonella Concerns
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered the recall of some batches of Kinder Suprise chocolates from Belgium after the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a notification on the recall of the said confections due to possible presence of salmonella, a type of bacteria that affects the intestinal tract.
The implicated chocolates were imported into Singapore by Redmart Ltd, the SFA said in a media release on April 6, and bear best before dates between July 11, 2022 and Oct. 7, 2022.
Salmonella is known to cause foodborne illnesses such as fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. The SFA has advised consumers who have purchased the compromised products not to consume them. Those who have consumed the said products and have concerns should seek medical help.
