SFA Recalls Several Jay & Joy Products Due to Possible Presence of Bacteria

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced on Sunday, Jan. 22, that it’s recalling several Jay & Joy vegan cheese products from France due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

According to a release by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), all batches and use-by dates of Jeanne Le Blute Vegan Blue Cheese, Jill Vegan Goat Cheese, Josephine Vegan Brie, Vegan Paté, Vegan Geraspte Kaas Grated Cheese, and Jean Jacques Vegan Maroilles need to be recalled.

Listeria monocytogenes is a species of pathogenic bacteria that causes listeriosis. Symptoms of its infection include flu and gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Its average incubation period is three weeks, but can range between three and 70 days. Pregnant women, babies, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable to it.

The SFA has directed the importer, Eurolink Nutrition Pte. Ltd., to recall all the products. Consumers who have already purchased the implicated products should not consume them and contact their point of purchase.
