Singapore’s Jurong Bird Park Ceases Operations After 52 Years

Coinciding with its 52nd anniversary, Jurong Bird Park — one of Singapore’s oldest wildlife attractions — has shut down on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

“Jurong Bird Park is officially closed! It was an emotional day for everyone when shutters came down for the last time,” Mandai Wildlife Reserve said in a Facebook post.

More than 2,600 locals and tourists turned up at the tourist attraction on its last day of operations.

Home to 3,500 birds spanning 400 species, the park has welcomed 41 million visitors since its inception in 1971.

The animals from Jurong Bird Park will be transferred to a new attraction called Bird Paradise in Mandai. It will be open to the public in the second quarter of 2023.
