Turkish Embassy in SG Calls for Aid Following Earthquake in Turkey, Syria
Following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria and claimed the lives of more than 21,000 people on Monday, Feb. 6, the Turkish Embassy in Singapore is calling for aid for the victims of the catastrophic event.
The government agency needs in-kind donations including baby food, sleeping bags, clothing for winter conditions, sanitary products, canned goods, tents, blankets, and other necessities.
“In-kind donations must consist of new or unused materials. The packages must be clearly marked showing its contents and quantity,” the embassy wrote in a Facebook post.
The cut-off date for individual donations is Friday, Feb. 10. All donations will be collected at 10, Genting Ln, #06-00, 349583.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpour of support in Singapore. Thank you for your understanding and solidarity,” the embassy said.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has pledged US$100,000 in humanitarian aid to the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
