PM Lee Confirms Singapore, Malaysia Vaccinated Travel Lane to Reopen Anew

Fully vaccinated travellers from Malaysia and Singapore can now enjoy quarantine-free trips as the cross-border air travel between the two nations reopened again through Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced last Nov.8.

As Southeast Asian neighbours, Lee confirmed his phone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to restart their joint VTL between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport starting Nov. 29.

Thanks to the significant progress of COVID-19 vaccination in Singapore and Malaysia, the two leaders agreed to gradually reopen the travel borders. They expect that this move will further help “revive our economies, restore people-to-people ties, and strengthen our bilateral partnership.”

Lee also unveiled their plans to launch a similar VTL scheme across Causeway and the Second Link soon. Singapore is known to have one of the highest vaccination rates in the world with 82.47% of the total population having already been vaccinated against COVID-19, as of writing.
