Get Your Paws on Cat-Shaped Bread at This New Japanese Bakery in Star Vista
If you’re craving something good, but also something cute, this cat-shaped bread from a newly opened Japanese bakery at The Star Vista is purr-fect for you.
CATBAKE opened in December 2022 and is continuously gaining popularity because of its cat-shaped loaves, which are the specialty of Neko Neko Shokupan (literally “cat cat eating bread”).
Neko Neko Shokupan, which opened its first store in Tokyo in 2019, went viral throughout Japan because of their bread’s cuteness and range of flavours. While the ones being sold in Singapore are the regular white bread only, we’re hoping CATBAKE will release more varieties in the future!
For now, we’re good with eating it in French toast form with gelato and chocolate syrup on top.
If you want to try something else, they also have other pastries on the menu, such as Nama Chocolate Danish, Caramel Banana Danish, and Cream Danish.
CATBAKE was established by Nagoya-born pâtissier Shinya Tajima who acquired local dessert chain Chocolate Origin. He later created Hokkaido premium chocolate brand Cacaocat, which is why you’ll also see Cacaocat products inside the store.
CATBAKE is located at #B1-43 The Star Vista, 1 Vista Exchange Green and is open daily from 10 AM to 9:30 PM. For more information, visit their Instagram.
