2022 Singapore Comic Con Primer: Tickets, Exhibitors, Cosplays, and More

2022 Singapore Comic Con

Comic geeks, rejoice! Singapore Comic Con (SCC) is set for a blazing comeback this year following a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Formerly known as the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC), it is the ultimate event when it comes to championing the best of pop culture in the West and Asia! Expect collectibles, comics, and esports at SCC. Don't forget to don your favourite costumes for fun or for the cosplay competition, as well, with your whole family!

SCC will be held on Dec. 10-11 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the Marina Bay Sands at 10 Bayfront Avenue. It is the perfect event to bring your family as children under 12 are allowed to enter for free, granted they are with an adult with a ticket.

Tickets

Tickets are currently on sale online on SCC's website and will not be available for purchase at any ticket booth during the convention.

One-day and two-day tickets with early access for Dec. 10 are now sold out, but you can still buy other tickets. These include two types of two-day tickets that come with a Tamashii Nations exclusive item, priced at S$108 and S$138, respectively, as well as a two-day ticket with a free limited edition mystery T-shirt for S$85.

Exhibitors

There are tons of exhibitors gracing SCC this year, including longtime allies and accomplices to ensure the best Comic Con experience for its most ardent supporters.

Exhibitors hail from different countries, including the Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Australia, Malaysia, Italy, Canada, and the United States. Here’s a peek on a few select of them. You can view SCC’s full list of exhibitors here!

Comic Odyssey, Philippines

Comic Odyssey is pretty much a household name among Filipino fans of comics! It is regarded as the country's premier comic bookshop, having brought comics to the hands of Filipinos since 1997, and specialises in back issue comics from as early as the 1960s to the present. Apart from releases from major comic publishers in the world, Comic Odyssey also offers graphic novels, paperbacks, and hardcovers.

Boxface Lab, South Korea

Boxface is a comprehensive creative laboratory established by South Korean artist Sungwon Jo. Sungwon is known for his box-shaped characters, which are inspired by his humble childhood growing up with farmer parents and when his only toy was a paper box for crops. He graduated from the Department of Industrial Design in Sejong University in 2012 and earned a master's degree from Hongsik University's Department of Visual Design in 2014.

Bandai Namco Studios, Singapore

Bandai Namco is a multinational video game publisher and developer founded by Japanese Nakamura Seisakusho in 1955. It's known for developing and publishing iconic video games, such as "Naruto: Ultimate Ninja," "One Piece: Grand Adventure," "Mario Kart Arcade GP 2," “Tekken 6," and "Elden Ring," among many others. It opened a Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore in 2013 as one of the overseas core video developments of the Bandai Namco Group.

Cosplay Competition

How can SCC be complete with its cosplay competition? This year, the SGCC 2022 Cosplay Competition will be held on Dec. 11 and will only be open to attendees who hold tickets. Attendees can look forward to seeing the diverse cosplayers' costumes and performances, with the event open to all levels and experiences.

Convention Rules

Several rules shall be put in place in this year's SCC to ensure the safety and health of all its attendees. Only fully vaccinated individuals shall be allowed to enter the event premises. One must show proof of vaccination via the Trace Together or Health Hub applications and always wear a mask inside the venue.

Costume making is a skill the organisers would love to see and noted that dressing decently would be appreciated. Overly revealing costumes, nudity, and indecent exposure are not welcome in the comic con.

Taking photos, videos, and audio recordings is welcomed in at the comic con. Nevertheless, other guests, exhibitors, and cosplayers may not feel comfortable to be filmed. It is crucial to ask for their consent before taking photos and videos of them.

Harassment has no place in the comic con. This includes intimidation, stalking, and unwelcome physical attention and assault. You can read more about Singapore's Protection From Harassment Act 2014 here.
