MOE to Facilitate Vaccinations for Students Below 12 After March Holidays

The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Feb. 15 that it will help facilitate the vaccination of P1 to P6 students below 12 years old in MOE schools. This will be under the School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise, wherein the MOE will ferry students to pediatric vaccination centres via bus starting Term 2 or after the March holidays.

Around 213,000 children aged 5 to 11 have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose as of Feb. 13, according to the MOE. Over 120,000 have also received their second dose. In primary schools, around 79% have signed up for vaccination, with 75% already having received their first dose.

The MOE added parents or guardians can opt for the vaccination exercise if their children are medically eligible for the vaccine and are willing to be vaccinated without the accompaniment of their parents. Parents shall be informed of the registration details of the initiative through Parents Gateway on Feb. 18.

Meanwhile, parents or guardians who would like to have their child/ward vaccinated before Term 2 can do so via walk-in to any pediatric vaccination centre from Monday to Thursday before 7 PM.
