NEA: 76 Persons Caught Breaching Safe Management Measures at Hawker Centres
The National Environment Agency (NEA) has taken enforcement action against 76 individuals from Oct. 25-31 for breaching Safe Management Measures (SMMs) at different hawker centres.
The offences of the 76 individuals include gathering in groups of more than two, flouting safe distances of at least one metre, and not wearing face masks, according to the NEA on Nov. 3.
Meanwhile, 20 unvaccinated or partially -vaccinated individuals were caught breaching Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS) at hawker centres during selective checks from Oct. 27-30. Their particulars have since been taken down by Safe Distancing Enforcement Officers (SDEOs). VDS have been in place in hawker centres since Oct. 13.
First-time offenders of VDS at hawker centres will be given a written warning, whereas second-time offenders face a S$300 fine. Individuals with subsequent offences may face composition or court fines.
Those who refuse to show SDEOs the vaccination "green tick" on the TraceTogether App or provide their TT token will likewise have their particulars jotted down. Members of the public are firmly reminded to adhere to VDS and SMMs when dining at hawker centres.
