National Museum Unveils Largest LEGO Mural for SG60 Celebration

In the spirit of SG60, the National Museum of Singapore unveiled a record-breaking LEGO mural, alongside an exciting and colorful brick showcase featuring artworks and exclusive LEGO builds inspired by the city-state’s iconic landmarks and food culture.
From July 19 to Aug. 9, discover the nation’s stories through LEGO creations in the Stories of Singapore: Building Our Heritage, Brick by Brick showcase. This remarkable collaboration features large-scale displays of iconic Singaporean landmarks such as the Changi Airport Control Tower and Bumboats along the Singapore River, built entirely from LEGO bricks!
At the heart of this activation is the largest LEGO mural in Singapore, recognized by the Singapore Book of Records, built with over 265,743 LEGO bricks to create a row of colorful, nostalgic shophouses echoing the early days of the nation’s bustling commerce in the 1960s. Last July 18, visitors were invited to contribute the final bricks to the mural, becoming part of a collective moment in history!

The showcases also feature a range of LEGO builds inspired by favorite local dishes such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli Crab, and the famed Singaporean breakfast — Kaya Butter Toast with Soft-Boiled Eggs. There’s also a row of LEGO artworks made by students of the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) depicting historical and modern scenes inspired by the Singapore River.
The activation also gives visitors a chance to be part of the fun as guests can take part in a LEGO Make & Take activity and build their very own Mini LEGO Orchid (10311 Orchid and 10343 Mini Orchid sets) as a commemorative SG60 souvenir. The LEGO Group is also highlighting a collection of LEGO sets — particularly the 21057 Singapore set, which recreates iconic Singaporean landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, the OCBC Centre, One Raffles Place, Lau Pa Sat food market, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, and the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay.

You can visit The Stories of Singapore: Building Our Heritage, Brick by Brick at the Stamford Gallery at the National Museum of Singapore until Aug. 9. Afterwards, some select highlights will be moved to heartlands at the NEX Atrium from Aug. 12 to 31, where the fun continues with exciting LEGO pop-ups, hand-on activities on the weekends, and fan-favorite displays such as the 3D Hawker Man and the Merlion LEGO model.
