Family Bonding Take Your Kids to These Easy Cycling Trails in Singapore

Singaporeans still see family as a priority according to “Our Singaporean Values,” a study based on findings from the 2020 World Values Survey (WVS), so it’s no wonder that a lot of us value bonding time. Whether it’s as simple as a movie night at home or an outdoor activity like cycling, what matters is that we enjoy each other’s company.

Speaking of cycling, did you know that you can hit two birds with one stone with it? Not only will you get to spend time together with your loved ones, but you can also promote better health for them.

Cycling is a low-impact form of exercise that helps boost stamina, lower stress levels, and improve joint mobility and cardiovascular health. As we continue to spend longer days indoors because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a weekend cycling trip will help keep everyone’s health in check. Here are some cycling trails in Singapore that we recommend.

Changi Jurassic Mile

Jurassic Mile is home to the largest life-sized dinosaur outdoor display in Singapore. Located in Changi Airport Connector, this 3.5-kilometre stretch allows visitors to ride their bikes or skate to Jewel Changi Airport and the terminals from East Coast Park or any of the Park Connector Network (PCN).

This exciting trail will start from Tanah Merah Coastal Road and end at Changi Airport Terminal 4. Your family will surely enjoy cycling here as they’ll also be able to see dinosaur replicas along the way.

When everyone’s hungry, you can go to Hub & Spoke Café for a satisfying meal. There are facilities outside where you can park and wash your bicycles, store them in lockers, or pump the tyres for a quick fix. If you don’t want to go home covered in sweat, there are also shower facilities for a small fee.

Marina Bay Loop

The Marina Bay Loop is an 11-kilometre path that highlights the beautiful skyline of Singapore. Your family will love it even more when you take them cycling around the time when the sun sets. This trail starts at Marina Bay Sands then goes through the Helix Bridge towards the Esplanade and Merlion.

What’s nice about this trail is you can continue cycling at night towards Marina Bay and Singapore Flyer to see the city in a different view. When you’re done, there are food stalls and dining establishments that offer outdoor seating in the area so you can take a break and have a fulfilling dinner before going home.

East Coast Park

East Coast Park is a popular weekend getaway spot for families. Its 15-kilometre stretch offers many recreational activities, such as camping, cycling, beach volleyball, skating, and water sports. The Cyclist Park, which is located at Area D, offers two circuits (Learner and Advanced Circuit) for beginner and more experienced cyclists.

If you want to introduce your young ones to biking, you can rent family bikes and let your kids be the passengers until they develop an interest to bike on their own. Most family bikes have canopies, so you don’t have to worry about being under the sun for too long. To end your day, you can have a barbecue party near the beach or eat good food at nearby hawker centres and restaurants.
