Family-Friendly Farms You Should Visit in Singapore

Family Friendly Farms You Should Visit in Singapore Header

Getting food to our table does not happen in a vacuum. The food that we consume passes through different stages, starting from the farms to processing then to distribution and retail before ending up on our fridges and plates with the help of various actors that make all these possible.

To be grounded on your knowledge about where our food comes from and why it is precious, you and your loved ones can check out these family-friendly farms in Singapore to know what happens behind the scenes.

Hay Dairies

Hay Dairies is the only goat farm in Singapore since 1988 and boasts of over 800 goats of mixed breed originating from Minnesota, United States. This goat farm adheres to food and animal safety standards set by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), so you can rest assured that the goats are treated well.

Hay Dairies offers two tours, the Free and Easy tour and the Educational Tour. In the former, the public can enter the farm and view the goat milking process (held from 9 AM to 10:30 AM), buy Alfalfa Hay to feed the goats, and purchase fresh goat milk and souvenirs. Meanwhile, the Educational Farm Tour brings you on a learning journey and includes a viewing of the goat milking and a 20-minute orientation. It also comes with a 200-ml bottle of fresh goat milk, souvenir, and an activity book for each guest, and a packet of Alfalfa Hay for every four guests.

Kok Fah Technology Farm

Want to know where to source leafy vegetables? Kok Fah Technology Farm is a local family-owned business that has been selling leafy vegetables in Singapore for the past four decades. It uses the latest farming technology to ensure that it delivers only the best leafy vegetables to the public. Kok Fah Technology Farm offers several farm tours, such as its Preschool Farm Tour, Pri/Sec Farm Tour, Tertiary & Above Farm Tour, and Guided Farm Tour. In the latter, participants get to tour the hydroponics greenhouse, take part in an aloe vera demonstration, and are given a honey aloe vera drink and lettuce sample. The Guided Farm tour lasts 45 minutes to one hour.

GreenCircle Eco-Farm

GreenCircle Eco-Farm is a 2.2-hectare organic farm founded in 1999 by Evelyn Eng and Lim Tian Soon. The produce grown in this farm is entirely chemical-free, in line with Evelyn and Tian Soo's advocacy for nature and conservation. Public visitors are allowed to visit the farm and see how food is produced, although some areas of the farm are closed to unescorted visitors. If you would like a more comprehensive visit, GreenCircle Eco-Farm encourages the public to join its monthly green gathering called Workout with Farmer Evelyn, held every second and third Sunday of the month.
