Singapore Suspends Ticket Sales for New VTL Travellers Amid Omicron Threat
The Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) authorities halted the sale of Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) land and flight tickets to Singapore due to the increasing cases of the Omicron variant. Freeze on ticket sales will start today, Dec. 23, until Jan. 20, 2022, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The stricter enforcement for VTL travellers is expected to help the city-state mitigate the spread of the Omicron variant.
"With aggressive contact tracing and ringfencing measures, we have, for now, been able to limit onward community transmission. But it is a matter of time before the Omicron variant spreads in our community," the MOH said.
VTL travellers are required to undergo enhanced testing regime upon arrival in Singapore, including on-arrival test, daily self-administered antigen rapid tests (ARTs), and Combined Test Centre (CTC) or Quick Test Centre (QTC). All test results shall be submitted online. For the complete details on the testing regime for VTL travellers, click here.
