Singapore Tightens Testing Measures for Incoming Travellers Via VTL

All travellers entering Singapore via the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) must take an antigen rapid test (ART) daily for seven days from the date of their arrival as part of the city-state’s enhanced restrictions to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant.

The daily tests, which took effect at 11:59 PM on Dec. 6, are self-administered. Travellers need to submit the results online using a link that will be sent to them via their declared contact details after arrival, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on Dec. 3.

The enhanced ART protocols will also apply to individuals from Malaysia using the land VTL.

“Our tightened border measures will help to limit importation and onward transmission of Omicron cases as we continue to study the variant’s characteristics,” the MOH said.

“However, given its high transmissibility and spread to many parts of the world, we should expect to find more cases at our borders and, in time to come, also within our community.”

Aside from the seven-day ART, travellers are also required to take a PCR test or ART two days before departure and on the day of their arrival.
