Average Earners in Hong Kong Will Take 11.3 Working Days to Afford the New iPhone 13, Statistics Show
Apple officially unveiled the newest iPhone 13 series last Sept. 14, 2021. Unsurprisingly, the pricing is higher compared to other smartphones.
In Hong Kong, the iPhone 13 Pro (128 GB) costs HK$8,499, excluding the power adapter and EarPods. In line with their commitment to curb e-waste, Apple encouraged buyers to re-use their current iPhone accessories instead. But these are available in the store for those who want a new one.
Along with the release of the iPhone 13 series, an online website based in the Philippines, Picodi, made a juxtaposition of various countries based on their financial capability to purchase Apple’s latest flagship.
Based on the quarterly report of Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, the average monthly salary in the region is HK$16,841. Assuming an individual will spend all of their income, the index shows that an average earner in Hong Kong can afford the new iPhone after working for 11.3 days.
On the other hand, Singaporeans would only take 7.6 days to afford the latest gadget, whereas the Philippines landed on the second to the last spot with 90.2 days.
