If you're mad about mushrooms and pining for some porcini, great news! Italian family favorite Cantinaat Tai Kwun has unveiled an exciting new menu with five unique dishes that celebrate the diverse mushrooms of Italy’s autumn forests.
This special Funghi Collection is available from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1, 2024, at the modern trattoria located in the historic Old Police Headquarters at Tai Kwun.
For this offering, Chef Matteo Caripolihas used both Italian and local mushrooms to create a unique blend of earthy and rich flavors and textures. Chef Matteo drew inspiration from traditional recipes and family favorites from his hometown in Verona, creating a culinary experience that is modern and classic at the same time.

Start your journey through the flavors of Italy's autumnal funghi with the Fritto Misto alla Piemontes, priced at HK$188, that is perfect for sharing with family and friends. This dish features crispy bites of porcini, portobello, and king oyster mushrooms, along with veal brain and sweetbread, paired with a zesty salsa verde and lemon.

Next came Cantina's homemade Raviolo Arrotolato (HK$208), a raviolo rolled in the shape of a rose, and filled with wild shiitake, button, girolles, porcini, and morel mushrooms. This dish is complemented by tender roast chicken and its savory juices.
If you’re a fan of truffles, you’ll want to try the Homemade Tagliolini Truffle(HK$298), which features black truffle from the Piedmont region, topped with generous shavings of white or black truffle. The dish is perfectly balanced with rich and delicate forest flavors.
The Crespelle ai funghi (HK$178) is inspired by crepes Chef Matteo's mother made growing up, during mushroom season. These crispy baked crepes are filled with a duxelles stuffing of button mushrooms and a fragrant Parmesan béchamel, adding a comforting touch to your meal.
You can enjoy each of the five dishes a la carte, either as part of your meal or you can enjoy a tasting experience with all five specialties.

To round off your meal, try the Porcini dacquoise (HK$98) for a truly unforgettable experience. This dessert is made with almond, porcini powder, and hazelnut flour, topped with thin slices of shiitake mushrooms soaked in porcini syrup. Served with homemade button mushroom gelato and truffle vanilla sauce, it’s garnished with blackberries and citrus zest for a delightful finish.
