Get Artisanal Vegan Treats at the New MAYA Bakery & Bar in Taikoo

Craving guilt-free treats? Great news, because a new vegan bakery has just opened in town!

MAYA Bakery & Bar, the new chic food spot that has graced Hong Kong, is the city’s first artisanal vegan bakery and bar. The bar had its soft opening on Jan. 24 at the PCCW Tower in Taikoo Place, one of Hong Kong’s business hubs.

Named after its brand mascot, the bird species Maya, MAYA Bakery & Bar prides itself on its philosophy of “curiosity and adventure,” hence taking on a challenge to draw recipes from various cultures and regions.

With sustainability at the fore, MAYA serves scrumptious plant-based pastries made with fresh and natural ingredients. One of their must-try dishes is the vegan quiche (HK$75), made with tofu, buckwheat, and a combination of fresh vegetables.

If you love something sweet, you can try its plant-based egg tarts (HK$15–HK$18), a smooth yet flaky pastry inspired by Hong Kong-style cafes and diners, also known as cha chaan teng, or its fresh plant-based flavoured croissants (HK$28).

For something more filling, you can also try some picks from its Savoury menu, which includes Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese Sourdough (HK$75), Tuna Mayo Sourdough (HK$65), and Mushroom Truffle Cream Cheese Sourdough (HK$65).
