Peking Restaurant Sun Moon Place Opens on Ship Street in Wan Chai

Sun Moon Place, a new venture by Epicurean Group, has just opened its doors on Ship Street in Wan Chai!
Sun Moon Place is dedicated to reviving the nostalgic and elegant dining experiences of Peking cuisine, also known as Beijing cuisine. It aims to reignite the vibrant food culture of 1980s Hong Kong with its signature menu and charming vintage feel.
The culinary team behind Sun Moon Place boasts over 40 years of expertise from renowned Peking establishments in Hong Kong. They are dedicated to serving up traditional Northern Chinese recipes, aiming to bring back those beloved flavors.
Located in the spacious former site of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurantSHIP KEE, Sun Moon Place also features four private rooms, making it an ideal spot for large gatherings.
The menu’s standout dishes highlight the best of Northern Chinese cuisine. One must-try is their signature Barbecued Peking Duck, priced at HK$308/half, or HK$468/whole. This dish features beautifully glistening, crispy skin and tender meat, served with warm pancakes, leeks, cucumber, and a touch of sugar for the perfect balance of flavors.
Enjoy appetizers including their Hot and Sour Soup (HK$98/small, HK$148/medium, HK$236/large), freshly loaded with sliced pork stomach, curdled pig's blood, shrimp, tofu, and fungus. Another classic is the Preserved Smoked Chicken (HK$148/half, HK$288/whole), marinated in soy sauce and steamed for maximum flavor.

If you're in the mood for something lighter, the Fried Egg Rolls with Meat & Vegetables(HK$198/medium, HK$268/large) are filled with pork and pickled veggies. Vegetarians can opt for the Mock Goose (Bean Curd), that costs HK$98/small, HK$148/medium, HK$198/large, featuring sautéed vegetables wrapped in crispy bean-curd skin.

Another highlight is the Sauteed Pig’s Trachea, available in three sizes (HK$228 for small, HK$338 for medium, HK$448 for large). This dish is boiled for 2 hours, then washed and cut to achieve a perfectly crispy texture. The cartilage-rich pork is simply seasoned with salt, offering a straightforward yet exquisite flavor.

To finish your meal on a high note, don’t miss out on the Caramelized Apple, priced HK$72 for small, HK$122 for medium, HK$172 for large, it features caramelized Fuji apples topped with delicate burnt sugar for a delightful, IG-worthy treat. You can also try their Soufflé Balls with Mashed Red Bean & Banana (HK$72/small, HK$122/medium, HK$172/large), made with whisked egg white, banana, and red bean paste.
