Gov't Rules Kids Aged 3 and Up Allowed to Get Sinovac Jab

The government today announced the lowering of the minimum age for receiving the Sinovac vaccine to three years old from Tuesday (Feb. 15).

The Secretary for Food & Health earlier approved the eligibility of the Sinovac vaccine to cover those aged three and above, with “regard to the […] considering the risks posed by the epidemic to the local community, as well as the benefits of lowering the age limit for receiving the Sinovac vaccine to cover children aged three to 17 outweigh the risks.”

From 8 AM on Feb. 15, parents can make online reservations for children to receive the Sinovac jab at community vaccination centres or hospital general outpatient clinics.

Guardians are advised to accompany their children when receiving vaccination, bringing along their child’s identity documents and a consent form.

Similarly with adults, children must wait for a total of 28 days between first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine.

From Wednesday (Feb. 16), children aged five to 11 can also receive the Pfizer vaccine.
