Snøhetta’s Residential Project Invites Pockets of Green to Tai Wai

1 Snohettas Residential Project Invites Pockets of Green to Tai Wai

In 2017, multidisciplinary design firm Snøhetta was commissioned by New World Development to design clubhouses for the Pavilia Farm residential development in Tai Wai. With this design, Snøhetta introduces pockets of green in the neighbourhood’s otherwise bustling urban city scape that will bring a much-needed dose of lush greenery and escapism for residents.

This green lung in the middle of the city includes three clubhouses: the Tea House, Farm House, and the Sky House, where people are invited to mingle, share experiences, and enjoy urban farming in the shared garden.

As quoted in another local source, Snøhetta Asia’s partner and managing director Robert Greenwood explains that “Pavilia Farm is a project that highlights the importance of creating new green, urban neighbourhoods.”

As cityscapes become ever-more modern, tall, and densely populated, Snøhetta plans to give back to the community by creating a sense of calm, with nature-integrated spaces. “A space where all the residents can find peace and calm, but also interact and connect with each other.”

The Tea House is designed as the point of arrival, leaving the busy city and ascending into the calm. Using water as the main motif, the building houses an indoor pool on one side, and a waterfall on the opposite side.

Contrasting the meditative Tea House, the Farm House is designed as a meeting place to bring people together. Surrounded by the urban farm and its bountiful produce, the Farm House acts as the centerpiece of Pavilia Farm.

As of January 2023, the Tea House and the Farm House are complete and open for visitation, however, the Sky House is expected to be ready by the end of later this year.
