The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today released a statement that a new batch of 10 recycling stores under the organisation's community recycling network, GREEN@COMMUNITY, will begin operation in the first half of 2022.

Under GREEN@COMMUNITY, there are currently 11 recycling stations, 22 recycling stores, and more than 100 temporary recycling spots operating weekly that serve the community in raising awareness for recycling and encouraging the public to go green.

The 10 recycling stores set to open for 2022 will cover areas that have seen rising demand for recycling, such as Aberdeen, Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon Tong, and Stanley.

Under the scheme, residents can recycle at least eight types of recyclables, including paper, cartons, glass, metal, and plastic bottles. The public may also enter the GREEN$ Electronic Participation Incentive Scheme and earn reward points to redeem gifts when recycling at the government stations.

Since 2020, the EPD has worked with local district offices to fund the support for Community Recycling Center projects, setting up a total of 22 recycling stores in all 18 districts. The network of stores reached began full operation beginning in the first quarter of 2021.
