Art Central Unveils First Highlights for its 2026 Edition This March

Hong Kong Art Week is fast approaching, art enthusiasts!

Art Central has announced the first wave of artists and project highlights for its eleventh edition, marking the start of its 2026 gallery program. A cornerstone event of Hong Kong Art Month and presented with Lead Partner UOB, the fair will run from Mar. 25 to 29, 2026, with a VIP Preview on Mar. 24, returning to its iconic Central Harbourfront location as one of the city’s key art calendar events.

Entering its second decade, the early announcement spotlights a mix of breakthrough voices and internationally recognized practices across the fair’s sectors, including Central Stage, Neo, and the Yi Tai Sculpture and Installation Projects.

Central Stage will feature Iranian-American artist and educator Elnaz Javani and Lithuanian artist Marta Fréjutė, joining the previously confirmed collective SIDE CORE. The platform spotlights artists with recent or upcoming participation in major exhibitions and biennials, as well as mid-career artists and more.

The Neo sector is dedicated to emerging galleries and talents, welcoming ten participants for this year — six returning galleries and four new participants – with each one showcasing new and cross-disciplinary talents from Asia and beyond to Art Central:  Ma Kelu, Maxim Zhestkov, and Marlene Steyn.

Meanwhile, the Yi Tai Sculpture and Installation Projects will be presenting five ambitious new installations, including three by Hong Kong artists, expanding the fair’s program of site-specific installations beyond the limitations of the gallery booth.

Entering its eleventh year, Art Central 2026 returns with a program driven by discovery, diverse artist perspectives, and curatorial rigor, bringing together more than 100 galleries and 500 artists from Hong Kong, across Asia, and beyond, underscoring its role as the region’s platform for emergent voices and new collecting possibilities.

Further details on talks, performances, partnerships, and curated programs will be announced soon, so stay tuned!

First release tickets are available until Jan. 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM, priced at HK$190 (Single-day Weekday Ticket; original price HK$270) and HK$225 (Single-day Weekend Ticket; original price HK$350). Guests can book their tickets in advance via CitylineKlookTrip.com, and Ctrip.

FutureScope Unveils 'Resonance Aura – Astrolabe' This January at Kai Tak

20260120 futurescopePhoto by FutureScope

FutureScope, Hong Kong’s first large-scale art dome, will unveil the second chapter of its immersive ArtTech chapter with “Resonance Aura – Astrolabe” at Kai Tak. From Jan. 30 to Feb. 15, 2026, the visionary experience invites guests to explore sound, light, and movement within the dome.

Conceptualized by Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) and his art collective XCEED, this second chapter presents a new interactive element — a mesmerizing kinetic installation, “Resonance Aura IV – Torquetum.”

Mandalas being projected in the dome
Courtesy of FutureScope

The sculpture is made up of seven self-rotating wheels that were inspired by the body’s chakras, acting as a breathing mandala that moves as part of the exhibition. The experience also draws inspiration from the works of Hong Kong literary icon, Xi Xi (Ellen Cheung Yin), particularly “Marvels of a Floating City” and “Imperial Astronomical Observatory,” reflecting on her poetic vision of the cosmos and urban life.

Inside the dome, familiar city landmarks, including the Tsing Ma Bridge and Peak Tower, are reimagined as ethereal point cloud constellations, while visitors’ movements are scanned in real time for a unique starfield and soundscape that ripples across the dome. The result is a contemplative dialogue between the city, its people, and the infinite universe.

On select dates, FutureScope will pair the installation with live performances by experimental vocalist Sainkho Namtchylak, known for her pioneering work in Tuvan throat singing. Each 30-minute performance transforms the dome into an acoustic chamber, combining binaural sound design with real-time audiovisual technology to create an intimate, meditative experience for the visitors.

This immersive experience is FutureScope’s newest step in blending art, sound, and technology, creating a space for introspection, shared wonder, and stillness in the bustling city.

“Resonance Aura – Astrolabe” runs from Jan. 30 to Feb. 15, 2026, with ticketed performances from February 13 to 15, 2026. Entrance to the exhibition is free with registration via KKday. Tickets for the performances are priced at HK$100 (Concession) and HK$140 (Standard), and are available via KKday.

For more information and updates, visit the FutureScope website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Dogs Will be Able to Ride the MTR Lines for One Day Only for Dogathon 2026

For the first time, dogs will be allowed to travel on the MTR alongside their owners as part of Dogathon 2026!

The Hong Kong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has partnered with MTR Corporation to introduce this special one-day dog-friendly travel initiative, marking a rare moment when the city’s public transport system opens its doors to cute, four-legged commuters.

On Mar. 1, up to 1,200 dogs will be able to ride on select MTR lines around the city for the upcoming Annual Charity Walk and Pet Carnival! While it’s a big win for furparents and their furbabies, participants will need to follow a few guidelines to ensure a smooth and organized experience for everyone.

Passengers must sign up for the SPCA Dogathon 2026 via the official website, with a required donation of HK$90 to receive an MTR “one-day Woof Pass.” Each wristband is valid for one small- or medium-sized dog only, and availability is capped at 1,200 tickets.

Furparents and their dogs will be allowed on the last car of the train on Heavy Rail and Light Rail networks, with an unlimited number of journeys that day. Each dog must always be accompanied by its owner and must be kept inside their carriers while on the MTR. Pet trolleys are not allowed.

Dogathon 2026 culminates at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort with the Charity Walk, where participants receive a themed T-shirt and a reversible dog scarf by OHU! Design, and a medal at the finish line. Afterwards, the Pet Carnival offers shopping, pamper sessions, photo spots, and playful activities for furparents and furbabies alike!

It’s a one-tail-wagging day for Hong Kong’s beloved pups — and their owners — to enjoy a day out in the city together. Registration online via this link closes on Feb. 2, 2026, so make sure to sign up ASAP!

For more information and updates, visit the SPCA website and follow its Facebook and Instagram pages.
