Known for his independent watchmaking prowess, Voutilainen faced a unique challenge in creating the HS14, employing the sunburst guilloché technique to achieve a surface that plays with light, symbolising both the eternal radiance of the sun and the fleeting brilliance preceding darkness – as in the climactic explosion of the atomic bomb Oppenheimer depicts.
