The Beat Stays: 1 Night at K11 ARTUS, Urban Oasis of Artistic Immersion

Where privacy and personal space are coveted rarities in Hong Kong, The Beat Asia sampled a one-night stay at the two-bedroom apartment (ARTUS Two) at K11 ARTUS to explore the larger-than-life, and larger-than-city-average suites built especially for lovers of comfort and artful detailing.

Venue & Neighbourhood

The urban beating heart of Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui is a neighbourhood that’s won the geographical lottery with a sweeping waterfront affording dwellers the most stunning of harbour views.

Situated along the Victoria Dockside, K11 ARTUS is Hong Kong’s luxury serviced residence showcasing a cityscape that melds into an exquisite panorama of hanging gardens below and rolling waves on the horizon. The domain surrounding K11 ARTUS maintains a partition through the fort of K11 Musea, with a shared private parking space between the two.

The Room

Boasting up to 80% of rooms that are classed as large units, our two-bedroom residence at K11 ARTUS has been thoughtfully designed to suit everyone from the chicest business traveller to a full family of four.

As a duo, we shacked up on the king bed in the master bedroom, with the elegant walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom as my favourite spots, where outfits from my weekend shopping excursion around the area got to be on display. The other bedroom features two single beds that are oh-so fluffy and bouncy to sink into, perfect for families with excitable kids.

Seamlessly containing a kitchen - equipped with sleek cooking appliances, and even dining sets – a built-in closet space shrouding home necessities for loaned use, as well as covert luggage storage, we were welcomed with a pristine collection of amenities that tempted for a much longer stay.

As much as I would have settled in with a plate of my own fresh-cooked pasta, thanks to the homely slothfulness kicking in from the cosy surroundings, we took full advantage of the IPTV food ordering service beamed in through the apartment’s smart TV. At the touch of a button, we were privy to various cafes and restaurants in K11 Musea’s catalogue, with bills virtually footed through the credit card the room gets charged to.

Framing the television was a gorgeous fabric accent wall, supplemented with a kaleidoscopic Chinese porcelain display plate and gold-trimmed wooden cabinet underneath. Eye-catching in its beauty, the interiors were curated by designer André Fu, who pulled off seamlessly integrating ornate elements organically.

Little intricacies are embedded into the apartment throughout, wrapping our stay up in style with modernized folk craftsmanship and artisan pieces. It made me rethink all the new and subtle ways one could place art at home.

Amenities

Kicking off our morning with a coffee on the wraparound balcony, we decided to split off and check out the residential gym and infinity pool. As I watched the clouds pass by and swirl into the skyscrapers I came face to face with, I lay back in the pool and felt the warmth of the heating swathe me in a comforting embrace.

Luckily, I had the whole sundeck to myself too. The cloudy day could not detract from my good mood, as I envisioned myself in the glamorous Moroccan resort that the area evoked through its charming deck chairs and lanterns.

We met up again to head over to the lobby’s restaurant, The Commune, to refuel. A meeting point for the residents, there was an air of shared tranquil amongst our neighbours who also came to enjoy a breakfast that satisfied their palate.

I tucked into a Speed Boarding breakfast spread of pastries, fresh fruits, and juice, whilst my companion indulged in a hearty Eastern breakfast of chicken congee with fried Chinese bread stick, pork floss, and pickles, served alongside Vegetable spring roll, stir-fried noodles, turnip cake with XO sauce, and fresh fruit. Sitting back with an adorably decorated Latte each, we bathed in the dazzle of the grand view.

Adjacent to The Commune was The Library – where we set up camp for the rest of the morning. Extending our domain beyond the luxury residence, we found the art-filled space just the place to unwind and let our imaginations run free. Stacked with a vibrant collection of art and culture-focused periodicals and books, it’s as if I’ve stumbled across the secret study belonging to a certain Jay Gatsby.

Experiences

Staying in was far from a bore, as we were able to follow an art resident tour that comprised of a visit to an exhibition by the K11 Craft and Guild Foundation.

An incubation space conserving traditional Chinese crafts, there was a unique array of works that introduced us to mediums like Guangcai porcelain, Baibaoqian wood inlay work of variegated semi-precious materials, plaster moulded replicas of ornate roof statues, samples from wooden architecture, and more. Taking an immersive journey through time, on-site art experts recounted the stories behind each handpicked piece in front of us.

K11 ARTUS is a sleek space that meticulously delivers on the sensory and experiential front. From thoughtful services enhancing our ease of stay, to intricately infusing each part of our experience and surroundings with an artistic touch.

We could have easily faked a business getaway during our stay and re-imagined ourselves as tourists in the city or elongated our stay without wearing out from the fascinating artistic and cultural wonders all around us.
