Movies and TV Shows on Netflix to Binge This September 2022
Netflix is raising the bar this month with bingeable TV shows and only-on-Netflix movies. If you’re unsure of what to watch this fall – here are some of our top picks for shows and movies we’ve got high hopes for.
‘Do Revenge’
Brought to you by co-writer of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” Jennifer Kaytin Robinson delivers a subverted Hitchcock-ian dark comedy dripped in high-school treachery featuring the most fearsome protagonists of all: teenage girls. Drea (Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Maya Hawke) take out their grievances on each other’s ex-boyfriends and ex-friends in a despicable but highly enjoyable secret alliance switcheroo. We can’t wait to see Camila and Maya’s on-screen chemistry as they worm their way into their betrayers’ lives and rip them to shreds and “Do Revenge” (Is that even like, correct grammar?).
The film also stars Rish Shah, Talia Rayder, Jonathan Daviss, Maia Reficco, Paris Berelc, Alisha Boe, and Sophie Turner.

‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’
The 2020’s is being heralded as the age for mind-blowing game-adapted series, from “Castlevania” to “Arcane,” the bar is shot through the roof. From the masterminds that brought you “Gurren Lagann,” “Kill la Kill,” “BNA,” and “Little Witch Academia” – Studio Trigger brings you a standalone 10-episode series rich with the dynamism and freakiness we know and love from the Cyberpunk world.
In the steampunk body-mod obsessed city of the future, David becomes a cyberpunk mercenary outlaw, otherwise known as an edgerunner. Together, we watch David navigate the insane retro futuristic world of Night City with the new edgerunners crew: Maine, Dorio, Kiwi, Pilar, Rebecca, and Lucy. Expect fiery explosions, NSFW cybersex, gore, and violence – otherwise, it wouldn’t be Cyberpunk.
Available from: Sept. 13, 3PM
‘Cobra Kai’
Season five of “Cobra Kai” is finally here! Yes, it may have started off as a throwaway gag in “How I Met Your Mother,” but this show has easily raptured millions of fans since the series first dropped. What makes this show so popular is its generational satire and self-aware retconning. Its wholly unapologetic embrace of 1980s tropes is not only hilarious, but wildly nostalgic.
Thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) are still at odds, well, sort of. This new season sees Terry Silvers trying to coin the “No Mercy” style of karate as the only name in the game, Johnny with some repenting to do, and Daniel is reaching out to an old friend for help.
Available from: Sept. 9, 3PM
‘Drifting Home’
From the studio that brought you “A Whisker Away,” Studio Colorido is coming back this year with its highly anticipated third anime feature film, “Drifting Home.” This summer adventure film is chock-full of emotional coming-of-age themes, beautifully animated action scenes and relatable characters.
In the summer of sixth grade for Kosuke and Natsume, they find themselves at an impasse after Kosuke’s grandfather passes away. After sneaking into an old, abandoned building, Kosuke and his friends are caught in a mysterious phenomenon that sweeps the children out to sea. As they come together to survive, they realise what it means to love and to lose. This poignant film about loss, friendship, and courage will no doubt leave you reaching for the tissues.
Available from: Sept. 16, 3PM
‘The Anthrax Attacks’
From Oscar-nominated director Dan Krauss, “The Anthrax Attacks” tells the lesser-known story of the 2001 anthrax attacks in the United States, in what became one of the worst biological attacks in U.S history. This documentary feature uses an expertly weaved combination of scripted reenactments based on FBI field notes, interviews, and emails to share the horrific tale of the week following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
From the science behind the deadly poison, obsession, paranoia, and the war on terror, this BBC Studios Production documentary aims to give a voice to investigators, survivors, and families of those infected to tell their stories on the invisible enemy.
Available from: Sept. 8, 3PM
‘Entergalactic’
From the brilliant minds of musician and actor Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, and creator of ABC sitcom “Blackish,” Kenya Barris, comes “Entergalactic.” This animated series boasts an all-star cast including Timothée Chalamet, Jessica Williams, Ty Dolla $ign, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abott, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro, Macaulay Culkin, and Mescudi himself.
Brought to you by award-winning DNEG studio, this New York-set story sees Jabari – voiced by Mescudi – as he attempts to balance his successful career with his desire for love. He meets a photographer it-girl upon moving into his new apartment, and an explosion of art, music, and fashion ensues.
Available from: Sept. 30, 3PM
‘Bee and Puppycat’
And we’re back for season two! It’s only been, what, six years since the original series finished? We’ve waited long enough. Described as “a warm hug,” this beloved Kickstarter animation series “Bee and Puppycat” has been taken up by Netflix for a revamp of season one, as well as a new second season under volume one of the entire series.
Join the otherwise clumsy Bee and her trusty friend PuppyCat as they take up a series of temporary jobs in strange worlds out in space to pay her monthly rent. The revamped versions on Netflix are done by Japanese Studio OLM which, hopefully, retains the charm of the original animation.
Available from: Sept. 6, 3PM
‘Broad Peak’
This film is based on the real-life story of Marciej Berbeka and his ambitious trek to the summit of Broad Peak, the 12th highest and most dangerous mountain in the world. It depicts the legendary mountaineer’s perilous attempt.
