The Beat Asia Guide to Clockenflap 2023: Line-up, Food, Drinks, and More
February 16, 2023
We’re itching for Clockenflap, Hong Kong’s largest outdoor music and arts fest, to unveil itself from under wraps on Mar. 3-5 in Central Harbourfront, as the top Asian festival makes a comeback after five years absence.
Clockenflap announced their full line up in early February, with hip-hop legends Wu-Tang Clan, indie-pop group The Cardigans, rockers Bombay Bicycle Club, singer-songwriter Sasha Alex Sloan, and Canto-rock troupe KOLOR headlining among more than 100 artists, singers, bands, and DJs set to perform throughout the weekend.
The three-day festival will welcome local and international festivalgoers and artists; all ready to party, dance, drink, eat, and love life in Hong Kong. Follow our guide for music, art, food and drinking information, tips and tricks on how to have the best Clockenflap!
International music line-up
Festivalgoers can expect to experience an unforgettable event, with an amazing line-up featuring some of the world's most beloved acts, such as U.S Hip-hop legends Wu-Tang Clan, Swedish band The Cardigans, and London-based Bombay Bicycle Club, in addition to British rock icons Arctic Monkeys, and French synth-rockers Phoenix.
Local Hong Kong talents are also set to take the stage, including Canto-rock giants KOLOR, indie-pop five-piece The Hertz, Hong Kong hip-hop don YoungQueenz, alt-rockers Arches, breakout rock act N.Y.P.D. (南洋派對), and rap trailblazer Tyson Yoshi.
Clockenflap is also lighting up leading Asian talent and acts, including Japanese dance-pop group CHAI, singer milet, and indie-rockers Hitsujibungaku, Thai band Three Man Down, South Korean indie boy band Silica Gel, and Taiwanese singer-songwriter YELLOW 黃宣, singer Julia Wu 吳卓源, and folk-rock band 老王樂隊 (Your Woman Sleeps with Others).

Eating and drinking at Clockenflap
As the March weekend hits, expect a litany of Hong Kong favourites for eating and drinking at Clockenflap 2023. The festival will hold dozens of food stalls, inviting restaurants to serve festival-style lunch packs and dinner plates, as well as cocktails, beer, cider, and wine supplied on-site.
This year will see Hoegaarden host a botanic beer garden for people to enjoy some Hoegaarden’s classic pours, Rosée and Peach wheat beers, and matching sorbets, with a chance to meet guest appearing Hong Kong artists Kaho Hung and Renci Yeung.
Creative arts and visual performances
Clockenflap’s festival programme also brings local art and audio-visual performances to town, including Pause.Record.Play for jamming sessions using special sound effects, watching abstract age-old films with Relentless Melt, Memorabilia Mobile invites festivalgoers to become their own model, and Birdmen is the best space to snap your Instagram pictures.
Family fun at the festival
This year, the festival caters to not only music goers, but also families and children of all ages, including performances from family-friendly Hong Kong puppet troupe Treasure Chest Theatre, community-led and open to public percussion sessions with Drum Jam, to soothing sonic explorations with I is One.
Tips and tricks for your Clockenflap
Dress for the weather - the weekend is predicted to be cloudy with patches of light rain, so pack a light raincoat to protect and shield yourself from any cool and wet weather. Wear comfortable footwear, as you’ll be on your feet for most of the weekend.
Remember to drink lots of water - even though Hong Kong will not experience any terribly hot weather during the Clockenflap weekend, staying hydrated, especially when drinking alcohol and dancing, is important to staying healthy and fresh all weekend.
Designate a dedicated meeting point - with thousands of people set to arrive at the festival for the musical weekend, WiFi access and 4G service will be patchy in Central Harbourfront. Be sure to designate a specific meeting point for you and your friends, children, and family to meet if you get lost.
Turn up on time - your favourite artist might not only be coming on late in the night or early in the afternoon, but also mean you can’t come for the whole weekend to party, socialise with friends and out-of-towners, eat some scrumptious food, and remember Clockenflap’s return.
