Macau 101: Ultimate Bus Guide from Hong Kong to Macau
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HKZMB) is the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world, spanning 63-kilometres, connecting Hong Kong with Macau and Zhuhai. The construction of the bridge finished in 2019 and it began service shortly after. However, it was temporarily closed due to border restrictions caused by the pandemic. With borders having reopened this March, here is the ultimate guide on how to travel from Hong Kong to Macau for your trip to these two bustling cities.
The Hong Kong Zhu Hai Macau Bridge Shuttle Bus
The most affordable option to reach Macau from Hong Kong is taking a shuttle bus from the HKZMB Hong Kong port.
To get to the port, you can use the Airport City Flyers provided by Citybus from various town centers in Hong Kong. The shuttle bus costs only HKD$65 and takes around 35 minutes to reach the HKZMB Macau port. From there, you can take shuttle buses provided by resorts and casinos to arrive at the Cotai area or any other resort giants in Macau. The shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes during the day and provides late-night services on a somewhat less frequent schedule. Tickets can be purchased online and on-site using WeChat Pay, Ali Pay, Octopus, credit cards, Apple Pay, or cash. Note that only one piece of hand carry-on luggage can be brought onto the vehicle.

Direct Buses from Prince Edward, Jordan, Yau Mat Tei to Macau City Centre
If you're seeking a more convenient option without the need to switch buses at each port, you can choose from one of the many city shuttle bus companies. For approximately HK$170, these services can take you directly from city centers of Hong Kong, such as Jordan and Mong Kok, to the Cotai Strip resorts or The Sands Resorts. However, be aware that you still have to disembark at the ports for immigration and board the same bus after passport checking. The bus will wait for approximately 20-30 minutes at each port.
Bus Company Options:
HKMO Express: From Prince Edward to Designated Hotels
One Bus: Jordan to Cotai Strip
Wing Tung Bus: Yau Ma Tei to Cotai Strip & Crowne Plazza
Hong Kong International Airport Shuttle Bus
Being one of the busiest international airports, many flights land in Hong Kong but not Macau. If you're planning a trip to Macau only, the Hong Kong International Airport provides a shuttle bus service directly from the airport to Macau. It costs approximately HK$185 for a one-way ticket from Hong Kong International Airport. For tickets and bookings, click here for more information!
Special Note
If you are a HKSAR resident, you can travel between Hong Kong and Macau using only your HKID card. For other visitors, make sure your passport allows visa-free entry into Macau before travelling there!
