Macau Gov't Successful in Nearly All of Tourism Plans from 2022: Report
July 25, 2023
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently announced the substantial progress made in implementing the Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan (referred to as the "Master Plan") in 2022.
With a concerted effort from both public and private sectors, the implementation rate has reached an impressive 86%, a 4% increase from the previous year.
The Master Plan, introduced in 2017, encompasses action plans in seven major areas, aiming to integrate tourism with various sectors such as e-commerce, sports, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), as well as culture and creativity.
The plan focuses on optimizing tourism products and facilities, improving quality tourism and collaboration, strategic marketing, urban development, innovative technology, and regional and international cooperation.
One of the successful initiatives under the "tourism+e-commerce" collaboration is the launch of the scheme called "My Treat for You, See You in Macao." This offers special discounts on air tickets and hotels in Macao.
The integration of "tourism+MICE" has been reinforced through marketing presentations, business visits, and networking seminars held on the Mainland for MICE corporate delegations from Macao.
To celebrate Macao's rich cultural heritage, various events were held to promote the "tourism+culture and creativity" sector. Events such as the Infinite Love Marathon Concerts, Fun Flash Show, and Flash Busker have added cultural and artistic vibrancy to local communities.
