PH Boxing Icon Pacquiao to Fight Muay Thai Hero Buakaw in Macau in 2024

The Philippines’ Manny Pacquiao and Thailand’s Buakaw Banchamek will face off in a US$25 million superbout that will see the two sports legends return to the ring in Macau early next year.
Dubbed “Match of the Legends,” the event was formally announced last July 21 during a press conference in Bangkok and will be held in January 2024. Fresh Air Festival, the same guys behind Manchester United and Liverpool’s “The Match Bangkok Century Cup 2022,” will promote the event.
International boxing rules will govern the match, which will have six rounds lasting three minutes each. The two fighters will go head-to-head at 154 lbs., equivalent to super welterweight in boxing and junior middleweight in Muay Thai, according to multiple media outlets.
Pacquiao, 44 and a Filipino boxing icon, boasts 12 titles in eight divisions, making him the only boxer in history to have won the said accolades. His last fight was in August 2021. Meanwhile, 41-year-old Buakaw is a Muay Thai legend with 240 wins, including 73 knockouts.
