A global supply shortage of the beloved french fries has reached Philippine shores as fast-food giant McDonald’s announced the unavailability of their salty snack in select sizes.
In a notice posted on its delivery website, McDonald’s Philippines said medium, large, and BFF fries are temporary not available in its delivery channels. As of writing, only regular fries and medium-size Shake Shake fries are available on third-party delivery apps Grab Food and foodpanda.
A shortage of frozen potato fries has forced McDonald’s branches in some countries, including Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia, to take the large-size fries off their menu.
According to a Jan. 8 report by The Washington Post, the supply crunch was due to a shipping and distribution problem on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic.
