For those who truly loved their matcha even before the word performative became a thing, we have some advice: don’t let anyone stop you from ordering that matcha. Maybe even add some oat milk — because you can.

Most people love matcha for its earthy-sweet flavor — and some, let’s face it, for an Instagram-worthy shot. We can’t blame them: its unique, calming green look is hard to resist. And while performative males are just everywhere these days (complete with their labubus, feminist books, and tote bags), some people genuinely love this drink. That said, we’ve rounded up a list of where to get the best matcha lattes around Manila. After all, we don’t just want aesthetically pleasing matcha; we want them to taste as good as they look, too.

Matcha Mama

Matcha Mama is a place that’s oozing with so much personality, perfect for green and pink lovers — as well as, of course, the matcha-obsessed ones. In fact, it’s the place to be for individuals who are just too passionate about their matcha, as Matcha Mama doesn’t just sell matcha lattes; they also cater to those interested in making their own cups of this vibrant, cute greenery. For P2,500, you’ll get a Matcha Kit so you can start your matcha journey in the comfort of your own home. Scratch has signaled a major expansion to open a new location in Bonifacio Global City, teasing the move through a short social media caption that doesn't reveal much but definitely increases anticipation: “You asked. We’re answering. BGC. Soon.”

The post immediately sparked excitement among fans and regulars of the joint who have long asked for a branch in the metro’s premier lifestyle district.

Sometimes, it can be really frustrating when the coffee place you’re settling into isn’t open 24/7, especially when you’re close to finishing something or the night is just getting good. Luckily, Manila understands the struggle. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the round-the-clock, 24-hour cafés that stay open through the night, offering a welcoming atmosphere for night owls who aren’t ready to call it a day.

Pocofino

A café billed as “home to Italian heritage coffee brands," Pocofino doesn’t just serve coffee — it also caters to people looking for a 24-hour spot, complete with comfortable seating and available sockets, perfect for those seeking a productive late-night workspace. What’s more, while most cafés are prohibited to our beloved fur-babies, the coffee place prides itself on being pet-friendly.

Other branches include SM North EDSA, Eastwood Mall, Makati, and San Juan, but are open for limited hours only. Their branches in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Quezon City, however, are open 24 hours daily. Of course, is it really an Italian place without pasta and pizza? They do offer both, but the main attraction remains their coffee offerings, including the Iced Pocofino Latte (P200).

Seattle’s Best

Founded in 1970 in the northwest of Seattle, Washington, Seattle’s Best has been around in the Philippines for decades. Just last year, the coffee place celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sept. 23, 2025, by reopening its flagship store in Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City. Seattle’s Best wasn’t just celebrated for its longevity, though. It is also best known for its laid-back ambience and as a 24-hour spot for late-night work or study sessions.

Their best-sellers in the coffee selection are Java Chip Javakula and Iced White Chocolate Mocha. And they offer pastries and a breakfast menu, too! Many Seattle’s Best branches operate 24 hours a day, particularly the one in Cubao. It is a reliable late-night go-to, perfect for work and study sessions, or a much-needed caffeine fix past midnight.

Pancho Cafe

Nestled in the heart of Mandaluyong, Pancho Cafe is a perfect spot for night owls. While most places offer a more playful, artsy aesthetic, Pancho Cafe thrives in sophistication. The place will instantly welcome you with such a warm ambience.

Their menu includes an array of coffee selections, including Caffè all'Americana (P180), Caffè Latte (P200), and Caffè alla Vaniglia (P210), as well as non-coffee options like Matcha Latte (P200). Similar to Pocofino, Pancho Cafe is also an Italian-inspired coffee shop.

Sometimes, we don’t really gravitate toward coffee — we look for coffee places that we can settle into, one that's perfect for tambay (lounging) at any hour. A great coffee is just a perfect addition. With that said, have we got a place for you. NextGen Cafe is a go-to 24-hour destination, perfect for anyone who wants to study late at night, freelancers looking for a fresh spot, or people who just want to hang out without worrying about closing time.

Apart from caffeinated beverages, the coffee shop also offers a full menu of snacks and comfort food, including chicken wings, donuts, waffles, and more. And they have pandesal as well, available from 3 AM to 7 AM only! A perfect companion to your hot, freshly brewed coffee.

Nihon Cafe is a popular coffee shop in itself. However, compared to other larger names out there, this coffee shop is still relatively underrated and remains a hidden gem for many. Its round-the-clock operation is just one of the coffee place’s appealing factors, but do they have a great menu too?

A Japanese-inspired cafe, Nihon Cafe, offers signature coffee favorites as well as Japanese dishes like Chicken Karaage (P260), Chicken Katsu (P250), Pork Tonkatsu (P250), Tempura (P330), Wagyu Beef Cubes (P330), Tamago (P210), and more. They also have a Takoyaki with Malunggay, with prices depending on how many pieces you order.

Beloved Filipino Chocolate Brand, Serg’s Chocolates, is Making a Comeback

If you’ve ever missed the good old days, reminiscing is about to get a lot sweeter, as beloved local chocolate brand Serg’s Chocolates returns to store shelves.

The brand shared the news on Facebook last Jan. 26, 2026, reassuring customers of its commitment to return after the pandemic reshaped its business. Serg’s also revealed that the 2024 Carina floods severely affected their warehouse, damaging the machinery used for its small-batch production and causing further delays. Despite these setbacks, the brand remains determined to deliver what fans have long been craving.

“We’re starting small - Serg’s Chocolate Bars - back where it all began in 1954 on Cordillera St., Quezon City. We’ll share our plan and progress (Q1) publicly for transparency and accountability until we get this done. If everything goes well, we are hoping Serg’s in 2026 (Q3),” the post said.

Serg’s also invited everyone to share their social media pages and is seeking public support to help preserve its legacy as a Filipino family brand for generations to come.

Serg’s Chocolates was established in the 50s by Antonio Goquiolay, who named it after his son Sergio. The chocolate brand rose to popularity in the 80s and 90s, at a time when local chocolates were few in the market, and imported ones were reserved for special occasions. The brand was also particularly known for its commercial jingle and tagline, “Serg’s ikaw pa rin."

With people embracing nostalgia today like the “2016 is the new 2026” trend that has everyone longing for simpler times, this comeback is definitely tickling childhood memories. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

In the mood for some noodles? Hong Kong’s cult-favorite noodle chain TamJai Mixian is finally heading to the Philippines, with their first outlet opening on Jan. 27, 2026, at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Founded in 1996, TamJai is known for their mixian — Yunnan-style rice noodles served in bold, customizable Hong Kong-style broths. The brand has built a loyal following across Asia, with branches in Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

Their menu specializes in made-to-order bowls, where diners can choose from their “specialty” combinations or build their own bowls from a selection of soup bases, spice levels, and toppings.

One of their defining features is their 10-levels of spice, ranging from non-spicy to their tongue-tingling “Hell Fire,” alongside toppings like bean sprouts, fish balls, enoki mushrooms, and fish cakes, rice bowls, bold bites, and coolers!

Manila’s bar scene is about to get an enchanting addition as Hong Kong’s famed Iron Fairies prepares to pull back its heavy doors this February 2026.

Conceptualized by visionary designer Ashley Sutton, Iron Fairies is more than just a bar — it’s an immersive escape into a fantasy world built from metal and steel. Inspired by an old Australian mine, each Iron Fairies venue is imagined as a workshop of a blacksmith who forges iron fairies every night. According to the website, his design was influenced by his time in the mines, steel business, and the colorful illustrations in children’s books.

Its new home at the Smith Bell Building in BGC mirrors the vibe of the Hong Kong branch, complete with aged ovens, furnaces, and heavy industrial machinery that make you feel like you’ve wandered into a hidden blacksmith’s lair. Look closer, and you’ll spot over a thousand handcrafted metal fairies scattered throughout the space, set against warm brass interiors.

One of the standout features is the 10,000 butterflies suspended from the ceiling, casting dreamy shadows over tables filled with their crowd-favorite cocktails and bites.
