Most Pinoys Prioritize Looks in Search for a Potential Partner, Study Says

In a recent study by market research company Agile Data Solutions and its survey arm Hustle PH, it was found that the majority of Filipino adults in the dating app scene care the most about looks when searching for a potential partner.

According to the study, 54% of women and 63% of men aged 18 and above said that the first thing they look at on a dating app profile is the person’s photo, proving the significance of visual representation in the scene.

Moreover, 44% of men and 45% of women surveyed shared that they put the most effort into their dating app profile photos.

“Online dating follows rules of physical dating where initial attraction is always prompted by looks, then developed through meaningful conversations. The main difference is that connections are made faster without the barrier of physical distance and the burden of time consuming face to face meetings,” said Jason Gaguan, co-founder of Agile Data Solutions.

The survey also touched on the benefits of online dating, where it was revealed that 50% of women and 48% of men surveyed highly value establishing deep connections without needing in-person meetings.

About 40% of men and 43% of women also expressed concern over the authenticity of dating app profiles because of the risks of encountering posers. Nevertheless, six out of 10 men and women still attest to online relationships and friendships being equally meaningful as those built in person.
