Worrying about the traffic? Beat the rush hour and get around Manila with Light Rail Transit - Line 1’s (LRT-1) new express lane for QR and Beep™ card holders!

On Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC)’s website, the rail service company announced that they are implementing these special lanes at select LRT-1 stations. This means commuters can now enjoy a seamless, straight-to-gate experience from the security inspection area to the platforms.

The LRT-1 stations included in the pilot implementation are EDSA, Libertad, Quirino, Monumento, Balintawak, and Fernando Poe Jr. (formerly Roosevelt).

“As LRMC gears up for the holiday peak travel, we are introducing this initiative at select LRT-1 stations to help accelerate the commute time of our passengers. Passengers can get in the QR and beep™ lanes to save time and energy,” said LRMC Head of Operations Andrea Madrid.

For those who want to take the express lane and go straight to the train platform, make sure to buy your LRT-1 QR ticket beforehand or have enough load on your Stored Value Cards (SVCs) or Beep™.

You can buy LRT-1 QR tickets online via the ikotMNL and Maya app. Meanwhile, you can reload your SVCs through the Beep™ app or the eTap loading kiosks and ticket vending machines found in all LRT-1 stations.

If you’re constantly taking the LRT-1 to go to work or school, you’ll know that the queues can become overwhelming, especially during the rush hour. Thanks to this special lane, you can have a few more minutes of sleep!
