After a two-year hiatus, the International Silent Film Festival Manila (ISFFM), Asia's only silent film festival, is back with its 17th edition, running from July 11-13, 2025, at Red Carpet Cinemas, Shangri-La Plaza. ISFFM brings together rare and restored films from Austria, Spain, Japan, Italy, and Germany—each accompanied by live performances from Filipino artists.

This year’s lineup includes "Fra Diavolo" (1925), "Gigantes y cabezudos" (1926), "Beethoven" (1927), "The Scent of Pheasant’s Eye" (1935), and short films from Germany. Attendees will also experience Japan’s unique benshi tradition, where a live narrator interprets the film onstage.

Local acts like Ma.Ma., Psychic Surgeons, Teresa Barrozo, Pat Sarabia, and more will elevate these cinematic treasures through diverse genres, from classical to experimental.

Step into the evolving heart of Japan’s capital with TOKYO Before/After, a photography exhibition running from May 17 to July 31, 2025, at the 3F East Wing of Estancia Mall. Admission is free.

Organized by The Japan Foundation, Manila, this striking exhibition features approximately 80 photographs of Tokyo taken from two distinct eras: the 1930s-40s and after 2010. Through this curated juxtaposition of archival and contemporary imagery, visitors are invited to reflect on Tokyo’s transformation across generations and imagine what lies ahead for this ever-changing metropolis.

The exhibition showcases the work of iconic Japanese photographers including Kineo Kuwabara, Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki, Mika Ninagawa, Kenta Cobayashi, and more. Their images capture moments of everyday life, architecture, and emotion in a city caught between memory and modernity.

Presented with the support of JT International (Philippines), Inc. and the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, with Estancia Mall as venue partner, TOKYO Before/After offers a rare chance to engage with Tokyo’s past and present through the lens of Japan’s most celebrated visual storytellers.

Enter a world where desire blurs with the divine in Dagitab, a compelling stage adaptation presented by Scene Change. Directed and adapted by Guelan Varela Luarca, and based on the acclaimed film by Giancarlo Abrahan, the play will run from July 5–6 and 12–13, 2025, with showtimes at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, at the Fine Arts Black Box, Old Communications Building, Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU).

The story follows Issey, a literature professor who finds herself embroiled in scandal after forming a complicated bond with her student, Gab. Meanwhile, her husband Jimmy, a mythology scholar, becomes obsessed with his research—leading him into a surreal affair with a deity that takes the shape of a ghost from his past. The result is a profound, haunting exploration of love, memory, and the emotional dissonance that haunts long-term relationships.

Running for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes with an intermission, Dagitab invites the audience into a charged, poetic space where passion and intellect collide.
