A dance in a day in a dance returns to the stage with a fresh remounting of landmark contemporary works by award‑winning choreographer JM Cabling. Staged at the intimate Doreen Black Box Theater, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University, this concert invites audiences into a rehearsal‑day frame that unfolds into a moving meditation on the lives and bodies of Filipino dancers. Through Cabling’s richly layered choreography and Mikko Angeles’ sharp theatrical direction, the production turns studio tension into riveting dance‑theater on stage.

From May 16 to 31, 2026, the show occupies the theater for three weekends, offering multiple performance slots that spotlight both emerging and returning dancers in the local scene. The evening leans on the company’s collaborative spirit, with design elements from Wika Nadera’s sets, Arvy Dimaculangan’s sound, Joyce Garcia’s video design, and D Cortezano’s lighting heightening the emotional texture of each piece. The result is a program that feels at once poetic and grounded in the everyday labor of the dance studio.

Presented by Mari Dance and co‑presentered by Areté, in partnership with Guang Ming Dance Project, A dance in a day in a dance affirms contemporary dance as a powerful way of telling stories of real people and real lives. Tickets are now available for purchase via maridance.com.
