‘The Sound of Music’ Kicks Off Manila Season at Samsung Performing Arts

Globally acclaimed musical “The Sound of Music” is in town for the Manila leg of its international tour, which is set to kick off today.

Running until March 26, the renowned musical follows governess Maria as she re-introduces music to the widowed Captain Von Trapp and his seven children and changes their lives amidst rising tensions before the outbreak of World War II.

Theater actors Karylle Tatlonghari and Markki Stroem will join the cast as the cosmopolitan and stunning Baroness Elsa von Schraeder and handsome delivery boy Rolf, respectively.

The musical’s Manila season will debut today, March 7, at 8 PM at Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati. There are two show times to choose from during weekends until March 26, and one on weekdays excluding Mondays. Tickets are available via TicketWorld, with prices ranging from P1,500+ to P6,800+.

The original 1959 Broadway production of “The Sound of Music” scored five Tony Awards, while its 1965 movie starring Julie Andrews as Maria bagged five Oscars, including Best Picture.
